چکیده
This is the fourth and final article in the nuclear cardiology series. After reading and studying this article, the nuclear medicine technologist will be able to: m compare and contrast radio nuclide firstpass and gated equilibrium ventricular function studies including parameters measured, instrumentation, computer methods, and procedural details, and (2) discuss basic normal and abnormal results including ejection fraction, ventricular volumes, and wall motion.

Cardiac Function Using the Radionuclide
The recent expansion of interventional cardiovascular techniques has stimulated the development of non-invasive cardiac studies, to evaluate the outcome of the interventional therapy. Radionuclide ventriculographic technique provides to quantify global left ventricular systolic/diastolic performance, and evaluate the regional left ventricular wall motion during rest or exercise. This concept wa...
متن کاملRadionuclide evaluation of postextrasystolic potentiation of left ventricular function induced by atrial and ventricular stimulation.
Postextrasystolic potentiation of left ventricular function induced by ventricular and atrial stimulation was compared in 10 patients using radionuclide ventriculography. After insertion of pacing wires, a preliminary radionuclide ventriculogram was obtained and then ventricular and atrial trigeminy was induced in random order, each with identical R-R coupling intervals, each for 6 to 10 minute...
متن کاملTransient predominant right ventricular ischemia caused by coronary vasospasm.
This study describes the clinical experience with four patients with variant angina caused by spasm of the right coronary artery who were assessed for evidence of right ventricular involvement. The patients were suspected of having predominant right ventricular ischemia on the basis of normal thallium-201 scans, left ventricular ejection fraction, regional wall motion assessed by equilibrium ra...
متن کاملThe effect of ventricular pacing on measurements of left ventricular function: a comparison between echocardiographic methods and with radionuclide ventriculography.
AIMS Different methods exist for measuring left ventricular function echocardiographically; each may be error prone due to the abnormal pattern of ventricular activation during pacing. METHODS AND RESULTS Echocardiography was undertaken on 307 patients with permanent pacemakers; a subset of 57 underwent radionuclide ventriculography. Intrinsic and paced beats were analysed for left ventricula...
متن کاملRight and left ventricular performance in ambulatory young adults with cystic fibrosis.
Although cystic fibrosis is noted primarily for pronounced abnormalities in pulmonary function, a substantial number of patients die as a result of cardiac complications. Nevertheless, little is known about cardiac performance in this disease. The cardiac pathophysiological consequences of cystic fibrosis were investigated non-invasively by measuring right and left ventricular performance using...
